I was single for a long time, somewhat busy and not really looking for a relationship, and per some extracurricular activities I was engaged in I was hanging out with a group that was mainly comprised of males. None of these guys have paid much attention to me beyond just being friendly and us getting projects done together. Then suddenly one of them decides he is going to start courting me. I wasn't looking for a relationship so I rejected him, but then a funny thing happened: several other guys started flirting and being extremely nice going beyond their previous just friendly behavior. I was really surprised with this kind of response because I was hanging out with them for over a year and a half at that point and they didn't pay that kind of attention to me. One of them decides to go for it, and from there on it was like a cascade Not at all the same, they all went for you after one failed to prove they were more man than he was. It had nothing to do with you being 'taken', it was all male ego and your social status was irrelevant to the group I'm sure. In short, women go for the sure thing, men play the field.
